Join Karen in Rockford, IL for this EWomen Event at the Rockford Metro Centre November 6th and 7th!
Karen was named the 2009 Extraordinary Woman of the Year at the EWomen Conference in Roanoke a week ago. This award took Karen completely by surprise and she was humbly awed at receiving it!
"What makes any of us extraordinary," Karen said as she accepted her award, "is that we have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who loves us more than we could ever imagine."
Here Karen is holding the award along with a dozen beautiful roses from her amazing friends at Zondervan Publishing! Congratulations Karen!

New twitter Contest Announced
I'm crazy into
twitter and I love it!
Twitter is sort of like Facebook Lite - meaning it takes less time, it's free, but it still lets us be friends. Best friends, really. Just go to twitter and join
@KarenKingsbury. By following my posts, you'll see fun things like my morning pancake disaster from the other day, or brief devotionals that might help you get through the day.
The Princess and the Three Knights
Now Available in Stores
In Karen's newest children's book,
The Princess and the Three Knights, the King challenges three knights to prove their love for his daughter.

Okay, here's the contest - We're going to work together to get 20,000 people following me on twitter. That means you sign up, and get all your friends to do the same. When the number hits 20,000, I'll pick one twitter friend and a guest to join me at the Extraordinary Women event of their choice this spring. The catch is - your friend must also be following me on twitter. So get those friends signed up! The cool thing about twitter is it's almost like we're hanging out every day - you can follow it on most cell phones or check in now and then and read recent posts any time you like.
I'll be watching!
How about this - when I hit 10,000 twitter followers I'll start giving away a signed book every day to one of my twitter friends for 10 days straight! Look for that announcement. I can't wait to see you there!

From one viewer...
Karen Kingsbury's "Like Dandelion Dust", based on the best-selling novel, is a compelling drama that explores the different meanings of being a parent through the grittily realistic lives of the struggling, blue-collar Porter's, and the privileged Campbell family. Their lives intersect, intertwine and collide, all for the love of a little boy. This film is wonderfully acted, bravely exposing the humanity in each character and reminding us that we each have the potential to be the best and worst versions of ourselves at any time.

Walls can now be heard on Christian radio as a new hit single! Please take a moment to call your Christian radio station and request Walls, sung by Richie McDonald.
Walls was written by Karen, Richie McDonald (former lead singer of Lonestar), and songwriters Gary Baker and Matt Johnson. Walls is on Richie McDonald's first inspirational album, I Turn to You, available now at Christian bookstores and WalMarts everywhere.
The song was written in honor of her deceased brother, and goes out to anyone who is struggling to finally let go . . . and let God.

Sometimes life is a question, you don’t want to ask
Sorting through the lonely broken pieces of your past
When you can’t find a reason, the will or the way
Every second here another breath you know you have to take
The answer’s there hiding in the lies
It’s gonna be alright
Chorus:
When the walls fall down
And you find the truth
Shadows run for cover
Light comes shinning through
Every Chance you take
Could be your saving grace
There’s a calm inside your soul that’s only found
When the walls fall down
Don’t know where you’re going but you see the other side
You’re hearts feeling something that you almost recognize
Yesterday’s gone, tomorrow’s in the wind
Here and now you know it’s where you’re second chance begins
You don’t ask why, there’s hope in your eyes
You’re ready to try
Bridge:
Tears on your face say what you can’t say
What you believe can set you free
Karen and Donald Celebrate Twenty Years of Marriage

Our first home together, 20 years ago!
Donald and I celebrated twenty years of marriage this past summer, twenty years that have flown by in what has felt like so many brilliant moments.
For our anniversary, we took a few days and traveled back to Southern California, to many of the places where we hung out while we were dating.
We stayed in Santa Monica and biked along the beach path from the pier north to Will Rogers State Beach and south to Marina Del Ray and back again, and we drove to the Valley and spent a day driving down memory lane.
One of our first stops was at the house just south of Ventura Boulevard where we rented a small garage apartment when we were first married. Back then, the homeowner called the little place “the bunker”...

"I cry whenever I'm writing a novel--tears are good for us. Ice collects around the edges of our hearts. Tears happen when a little bit of that ice melts."...
