Dear Friends,
This morning it has come to my attention that some of you are unable to stay in the Baxter Family Club for financial reasons. I have prayed about this and wondered how I can best love you - my most special reader friends. In the process I have come up with a solution.
I am officially doing away with the auto-bill, auto-ship aspect of the Baxter Family Club.
So, if you want to be in the Baxter Family Book-by-Book Club for Unlocked, my stand-alone book that comes out October 12, simply buy the Baxter Family Book-by-Book Club edition of Unlocked now or anytime up until Wednesday, September 1.
These are tough times economically, as we all know. I cannot in good faith process a batch of credit and debit cards when even one of you might suffer financial hardship as a result. So . . . I am asking you who loved the auto-bill, auto-ship aspect of the club to partner with me and understand why I must stop doing this.
One reader friend wrote that she loves the Baxter Family Club with all her heart. She loves how club members get the Collector's Signature edition of my book, and how she gets the sweet sentimental Baxter Family Newsletter from John Baxter tucked inside. She told me she especially loves that she gets an extra chapter.
"I would do just about anything for that extra chapter," she told me.
But here's the problem. She told me that if she buys it this week, she won't be able to get her daughter a backpack for her first day in kindergarten. So she asked if I would please, please not process her debit card.
Her letter brought tears to my eyes and made me seek God in this matter.
This is why I will NOT bill any of you - even current club members - for my upcoming book, Unlocked.
The new club will be a Baxter Family Book-by-Book Club!
I will guarantee every one of you a copy between now and then. My wonderful publisher Zondervan has promised me that much.
After that, Baxter Family Book-by-Book Club membership copies of Unlocked will be available...
while my limited supplies last. You can buy one or many copies for gifts if you'd like. Or you can choose to wait for another book.
It’s your choice now. That's what God put on my heart to do for you, and I believe it is more fair to you.
Of course, the Baxter Family Book-by-Book Club will include the same benefits as before - the Collector's Signature edition (the traditional high quality paperback with a copy of my signature incorporated into the cover), the seasonal Baxter Family Newsletter written by John Baxter, and the Extra Chapter just for you (emailed to you the week of the release).
But the benefits will be for just one book at a time. All of you reader friends win this way.
Oh, and one more thing.
Proceeds from the Baxter Family Book-by-Book Club copies will go to help support my One Chance Foundation . . . and will help bring adopted children home to their forever families.
Thank you, friends, for understanding about this. We all have to pull together! Auto-bill, auto-ship was never my idea, but the idea of the people who ran the club before I took over.
Now, with me in charge of the club, I want you to have the gift of choices, and the certainty of quality. Delivery of the Baxter Family Book-by-Book Club books will in almost every case arrive on the day of release this time around, and we'll package the books here at my home office.

A Message From Karen...
I'm so glad you love the video trailer, friends!! And just so you know . . . Tyler is singing the song, "Just Beyond the Clouds" (he wrote the lyrics and music, and will be singing it on the "Unlocked - Songs that Inspire Karen Kingsbury" CD due out this fall. Also, friends of our kids - Tom and Victoria - are playing the lead characters in the video. In addition, a special thanks to the KWCS Choir Director Mr. Frasier and the KWCS kids who played the roles of high school students in this trailer and my friend and employee, Peggy, for playing the role of Holden's mom.
